1996 Polaris Xplorer 400L HELP!
Hello, first off I am new the forum and wanted to say hello. I have got a problem with my Polaris that I am sure that someone can help me with! I have a 1996 Polaris Xplorer 400L 2 Stroke that was give to me ( I am not sure if that is good or bad yet ). It had been setting for two years. It had 40 Lbs of compression, Top end rebuilt! Carb Rebuilt. New CDI box. Here is the problem, when I first turn it over while cold, new plug it will start and run and run good. After it warms up ( 20 min or so at Idle ) it wil not reach full rpm and will soon die and will not restart, will not even hit! Pull the plug out and it is wet with what I think is antifreeze, because it is not oily and light smell of gas. Tried a Hotter and new Plug, will run for about 5 min. then the same thing. Clean the plug and dry it, place back in engine and hit the starter and it will hit and fire off for about 2 sec. then will not hit anymore, Remove plug and same thing, What looks like antifreeze! Can the antifreeze be comming from the water pump and does anyone know where I could find instructions on how to remove the water pump online????? Please Help!!!!!!
Thanks, Fire3096

It just sound like it is running too rich and after 20 minutes of running that way it is fouling the plug. Things that point to running rich is:
1. starts and runs good for 20 minutes, untill plug is fouled.
2. will not hit top speed. Maybe it it running rich.
3. Clean the plug and it will hit a couple of times, can't clean a fouled plug to run.
4. Anti freeze won't kill a running engine, but it will boil over the radiator
Will a new plug (not a cleaned one) let it run for another 20 minutes?

sounds like maybe the head gasket didnt get installed correctly. there is a top and bottom on them. wrong direction and it will leak. the water pump is in the counter balance area. i dont think that is going to be your problem.
you might also try to drain the bottom of the crankcase. if its getting water while running it might be leaking while shut off and going down to the bottom. there should be a 10mm bolt on the right case half very bottom. pull that bolt and see if anything drains out.
