850 xp belts

Polaris IS good! Mine is 10 years old and hasn't had any major problems that wern't corrected with regular maintainence. This sounds like the case of a "lemon" or at least a single "lemon" drive belt and a jackass dealership that won't stand behind what they sell, especially since it would take less than an hour to replace the part with a new one that's relatively inexpensive. And this is after making a $11,000 sale!
Polaris is good.
Some dealers suck.

I probably should have restricted it to the new Polaris 850XP and indeed this may be a fluke, but other posters on this thread have mentioned others with this problem, so it may be first year "teething problems" too similar to the Grizzly. My experience with my 700 Sportsman was a good one and I sold it to my son in law who loves it. I will continue to recommend other Polaris models based on my experience with a caveat on the new ones.
No question this dealer is the worst example I have seen especially after buttoning the darned thing back up when he could just as easily have fixed it while it was apart. I go out of my way to my present dealer due to a crappy Yamaha dealer in my area.

This boils down to a bad dealer at most...even with the 4 or5 reported 850 belt failures it isn't enough in my opinion to call it a problem..I posted that it MIGHT be a problem as so far it is the most reported failure I have seen..I regret posting that now,as it is easy for people to blow stuff out of proportion...
I will say that Polaris needs to step up and start investigating complaints against dealers.....when you call to complain about a dealer they should not say "call your dealer"...how dumb is that?

I agree... the dealer could have made it a much better experience, no matter what happened. Hell, it sounds like he didn't even look to see if something in the clutch system could have caused the issue.

I am sure you are right, I just don't buy a first year ANYTHING, I cancelled an order on the new "improved" Tundra and boy am I glad I did.
The belt issue "might" be a problem caused by something fairly minor and easy to remedy or it might be a bad run of belts and it might not be anything. Whatever it is, they should stand behind it. You should not be able to tear a belt up in such a short period of time if you tried.

Unfortunately that is where I agree Polaris falls short...dealers should not be able to get away with giving customers the cold shoulder in situations like this..
