first off...full charge on battery..place meter across battery should read around 12 VDC.....start quad.... at idle voltage should rise to 13.1 to 13.8 volts....if not step two.......locate voltage regulator....check amps coming from sator. should be three wires coming from stator( yellow on my 04 600) at a high idle you should be reading almost 20 amps on each leg...if this good. Step three...........at the volage reg connector there will a wire running back to the battery. check fro voltage here. it should be the same as the battery voltage.....this eliminates the wiring from the vol/reg to the battery. If this step checks good..........Your Voltage regulator is junk........I paid 104 at the Stealership.. Last week I found a new on on e-bay for 74.............If you need more info just give a hollar

Set meter up to read A/C Amps.... meter across each one of the wires ( one to another in all three combination s to check all three legs of the stator)......at a high idle you should be reading around 18-20 A/C Amps..if this is good..Step three...............At the voltage reg connector there will a wire going back to the battery....set meter to read DC volts.........this wire should have 12.1 volts or current battery voltage on it( this step eliminates the wiring back to the batttery.. if it does then your Volt/Reg is toast.........to verify a inop volt/reg..set meter to read resistance.....and read across the three input wire...if you have an open on any of the three it is a bad componet.....the Stealership charged me 104 and a week later I found a new on e-bay for around 70....if you need any more info just give me a hollar........too cold to ride here in Mich....-16 this morning

Well that doesn't look like the volt/reg on my 04 600.....thats not to say its not on yours........look just above and foward of the radiator for a smal square thin box with 4- to 5 wires going to it..........

FAAMECH
The way you said to check it all is correct, Same way I did mine except for the wire back to the battery, That would of been smart of me to do that one also, but I didn't.... I didn't know how to get to that wire
