00 scrambler runs and then nothing

00 scrambler runs and then nothing
My 00 scrambler will start and run , You can ride for hours but once you shut it off won't start for hours, then right out the blue it starts right up.
it's getting spark and fuel.......
vent for the fuel tank is free and clear......
and its not overheating
what else am I missing here please anyone else have this issue before what do I do next?
