I thought I fouled a plug or had a loose plug wire. I went to move the fuel lines to see the plug wire and snapped the POS plastic fuel petcock line from the tank. GAS EVERYWHERE. I thought petcock might have been cracked and sucking air causing it not to Idle and running rough. Purchased a new petcock and installed it and idle problem and backfiring, stalling ect ect. I read on other treads about this being voltage reg. Any suggestions would be great!!!

Do you know where it is located at? I have a buddie with the same ATV ill steel his and see if it solves my problem. I am also going to check for a air leak in the carb boot when I get home tonight. We have been getting hammered with snow and the wife wants her driveway plowed. Thanks

It doesn't sound like this will solve your propblems, but have you tried adjusting your idle? If you follow the cable from your throttle there is two pieces of rubber that peel apart where you can adjust the idle. I have had to do this to my Sportsman and another one because they stopped idling in cold weather.

LOL, the answer to all problems is to over-idle the machine (with the EBS adjustment).
If this isn't the prob (most likely) you will screw up your clutch engagment and more importantly you will mess up your EBS. This boot and adjustment is not for tuning your idle; read your manual and adjust it back to the proper (1/8" or 1/16" of slack ?).
If you don't want to wait for the machine to warm up - Buy an EFI!
To properly adjust the idle you must do so on the carb itself with a key-way tool (if this is a prob). Improper idle shouldn't cause backfire and the other probs you're describing.
Sounds like colt is on the right track. I had backfire issues with my 05' 700 EFI and it was caused by the gasket going bad on the exhaust. Where it splits under the front of the engine into two pipes (right above the spring tensioners). The packing goes bad. A tapored $5 part replaced - and the problem was solved.
Hopefully this helps!
