Default Clarification on Service Intervals.

Ok, trying to clarify intervals.

The service manual has you do say an oil change at 25H for break-in. Then it says the next interval is at 100H

is that 100H on the chronometer or is that 100H after last service as in 125H on the chronometer?

This type of structure is repeated for other items of service as well.

Thanks!

i would do it when it says 100h on the chronometer. makes keeping track of the time easier. better to service too soon than too late!

the first service is 20hrs and every 100hrs thereafter under pansy use but i would suggest at every 65 hrs or every dunkinking!!!! it all depends on how hard you are on your machine!!you have to gauge

LOL... I must be a "pansy". My manual said 20 hours, or the first month, whichever comes first. I did it at one month. (didn't have 20 hours on it)

i didn't mean the pansy comment like that i meant that if ya toddle along the farm fenceline at 25 kph checking for breaks i belive the service interval stand but if you rip around a forest and do mud bogs at 70kph maybe you should reduce the hrs on your intervals!!!

Understood... and not taken the wrong way.

I'm a maintenance freak with all my equipment and tend to "overdo it" when it comes to these things.

Me too..and every piece of equipment I own that can be driven or rode is likely to get what is considered severe conditions use..even so I likely overdo the preventative maintenance and fluid changes ect..

quick question..

i have an 02 scrambler 400cc 2wd.

as far as i can tell theres no way to tell hours on it.

its in mint condition so im not too worried.. and i plan on changing the fluids before summer,

but if there was an hourmeter it would be on th bars right?

thanks

BigBros_Farmtoys . I did my first checkup when at 25 hrs and plan on doing my next at 100 hr not 125 hr. Probably would be real bad to go to 125, but as eggenz7 says better to soon than too late.

You do need to consider the riding you do though. If you a hard on the equipment and see a lot of dusty trails or mud holes you might want to have it checked a little sooner - imo.
