Default 2000 sportsman 4x4 problems

Hi I'm new to this forum and to atv's for that matter. I recently purchased a 2000 sportsman and hace noticed it is only 3 wheel drive, Which doesn't see right. What would be causing this? Hub problem. There are only 88 mi on this machine.

Thanks,

Jim

Change the hub fliuds first thing first. 88 miles on a 2000!

I am planning on doing a full fluid change. Could it be just that? Yes 88 miles and 66 hours.

Thanks,

Jim

Yes, it could be just that. The proper type and amount of fluid in the hubs is critical to the AWD working and the hubs engaging. Follow the proceedure in the owners manual. The hubs should NOT be filled completely... which is why I mention following the proceedure in the owners manual.

Have filler hole of at 4 0clock when filling and let excess spill drip out. I Heard you can use ATF Type "F" in a jam but the Polaris stuff is cheap and is my first choice.

Yes, the owner would use it to scout and recover deer and to move a trailer around his yard.
