cam and carb is the difference, put HO cam in bolt right up and then a 40mm carb, like what comes off of the scrambler 500, that is the difference between the two

I think the clutch needs new weights or a different spring when you change the carb and cam. Not 100% sure but I heard it was 3 C's - cam, carb, & clutch. Anyway, it gives you 15-20% more power so it feels more like a 600 when you hit the throttle.

Yes, we have done this, makes quite a difference in power , getting the jetting right took a little while , I think it went from a 145 to a 150 main if I remember but that all depends on elevation, we still have the same spring, with a little lighter weights in clutch.

On 500s the clutching is the same on HOs as the non Hos ll the HO amounts to is a hotter cam and bigger carb.
If your carb is bad Aaen used to carry a upgrade cam and carb

BTW, people were using Scrambler 500 parts to make Sportsman 500 H.O.s before Polaris made them.
