XP Brake pads after 300 miles
#1
Got my new pads and rotors today and put them on. The pics show the left front pad on the inside. The right front pads were actually worse. It was working its way through the actual metal part of the pad. Guess ill be changing these quite often since its normal wear and tear! hopefully Ill catch it before it eats the rotor next time.

Yep..they are gone for sure! I guess that is why the manual calls for wear inspection every 10 hours or 100 miles.
I must say though I have to think you are pretty hard on the brakes, nothing wrong with that though... I beat my up pretty good..I don't have 300 miles yet, closer to 200 and mine are maybe worn not quite halfway.
In any case like I said before the XP brakes are not regular Sportsman brakes. I could make them last forever if I didn't ride hard..but the 850 begs to be ridden like a sport quad so it is hard to compare the brakes when we ride like that to the guy who rarely eve needs his brakes creeping down the trail or working around the farm.
Yeah Deputy Swan..stay away from the XP it's a nightmare..
Probably 3/4 of the "problems" posted about the XP aren't problems at all, they are either abuse or paranoia..there are a very few REAL problems with the machine and the ones that are legit Polaris is fixing very quickly.
I hate to say it but if you think that everyone who post about a problem is being 100% honest about how the issue arose you are sadly mistaken....
Case in point one gentlman posted that his engine failed,he was ticked off. Inspection revealed the main and rod bearings were shot..dealer couldn't explain why yada yada yada. He failed to mention that he had previously turned the machine upside down underwater...
Probably 95% Of all posts on these forums are people asking questions about a "problem" with xyz machine...so hearing the worst or people asking about something they think might be a problem is to be expected....
I have even been guilty of the paranoia myself and thought I had a problem when it was nothing.

Ha Ha...it will stop in a heartbeat won't it? I've beat on my brakes pretty hard too. I dialed in the fueling with the Optimizer on the dead end private road in front of my house. I did several WOT runs and had to shut down quick at the end of the road. The XTRs sure do howl when you lock them up on pavement at 45 mph lol.
