07 Sportsman 800, EBS or non EBS?
#1
I own 2 Sportsmans, an 06 450 H.O. and a 07 800efi standard. I am not sure if either bike is EBS equipped, i'm pretty sure the 450 doesn't have EBS but the 800 holds pretty good in low range descending hills, is there any way to tell if they are equipped with EBS for sure and if they are not can either be upgraded, if so what parts would i need? also been looking at the roller secondary upgrade, is it woth it?

the 450 does not have (didnt come w/ it in 06') ebs. the 800 would mostly have it say it on the clutch cover as he mentioned but i think the standard version did not come w/ the ebs as i know it didnt come w/ the adc as it was only in the delux.

I'm pretty sure all EFI bikes have roller secondary.450's do not have EBS and your 800 will only have it if it is a camo or deluxe.Adding EBS primary clutches would also require EBS secondaries.

I have a 07 800x2 standard, it does have the abs. The dealer told me so and
You can feel it when you let off the gas it doesnt coast it definately brakes. (It doesnt say ebs on the clutch cover though. Mine does not have the ADC though, I beleive it only came on the deluxe in 07.

You can take the clutch cover off and look. If the inside surface belt doesn't have grooves in it running the long way you don't have EBS. You can get an EBS kit for any adult Polaris ATV. I think I paid my dealer $600 to cover parts and labor but that was 10-11 years ago so I may be wrong.

Thanks to all that replied, looks like i'll be adding ebs to the 450 and pulling the cover off the 800 to see.

My 05 Sportsman seems to hold back some when descending hills which is good.It also has a whine coming from the drivetrain when descending hills and off the throttle. Is this normal{the whine].

look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8_HhKSY3Ro8 EBS means the primary clutch has a one way bearing that only turns clockwise and locks up counter clock wise.
Hard to believe Polaris ever made a 800 with no EBS,even my 2001 500 has it.
Do not go by if it holds you back on down hills while in low range, even our NON EBS 97 Sportsman 500 can behave like it has EBS while in low range.

the new style primary that is on your ebs doesn't have the grooves in it, they updated the clutch, and ur 800 will definitely have ebs, unless ur awd switch says adc on it u don't have adc.
