Hi I have a 1998 Polaris scrambler 400 the ATV does not seam to be charging properly. The cooling fan does not run very fast and the starter will almost never start the engine. I have charged the battery up before and it held a charge but with the head lights on and the cooling fan on the battery did not stay charged.

 

sounds like maybe the recifier/regulator is gone or its going to be the charging coil in the stator. just a guess.
