I hear ya, it's also a good way to dislocate a shoulder, fracture a thumb, or sprain a wrist.LOL I was just recalling that I have not owned a twin with a recoil even the old carb stuff from the late 70's was all electric start. The least HP twin I've owned was a 12.5 HP briggs and stratton, which I still have, that was a horizontally opposed twin that sounded like a harley when you would choke it while running. It's in a Snapper lawn tractor from the early 80's that I never use anymore.

Moose have you ever tried your recoil? My 500 Rubicon is a SOB to pull start and it does not have as high of a compression ratio compared to the POPO's</end quote></div>

The Sportsman 500's have a auto decompression, its easer to pull start than my Yamaha 250 Moto4 was.

I had to pull start my 425 magnum for several months and it wasn't the least bit enjoyable especially when you have a bad shoulder and back. When the weather was bad and my shoulder was hurting it was almost impossible. Plus since I use the ATV so much around the farm I was having to pull start it dozens of times a day.

It was really bad when the engine would catch and pull back or whatever. It would rip the rope right out of your hand along with a wad of skin from your hand and fingers.
