500 sp sticking in reverse

Default 500 sp sticking in reverse

my 2003 sportsman 500 has started sticking in reverse quite often after it has been run awile what should i look at first tranny or the shifter

does it stick in reverse if the bike is turned off? just wondering if under a load it wont shift out and if it does the same thing while not running.

its happens to e all the time if you donot come in to N if you go from low to R it will stick i gust hammer the thing back to N on top of the tranny were the rod joins. just the red neck way.
