Default 850xp lower ball joint broke

Guys just got a call back from my dealer. They have a replacement a-arm & balljoint for me no charge. That was quick, i'll pick it up tonight. I'm going to look it over and see what they changed. You would think they would want to replace all four of them!</end quote></div>

That's good to hear. However, I would take a good look at the new arm and ball joint. If it looks different, or beefier, I would question as to why? As a matter of fact, if it is different, I would ask why they are not at least replacing them in pairs? (fronts/backs)

That's great,I hope they don't just put the same parts back on it. And like DCT said if the new stuff is upgraded so to speak they should replace both fron upper and lower A-arms and ball joints IMO.
What did the dealer say..any insight on whether Polaris knows of a problem? The fact that they are jumping on warranting it so quickly and easily tends to make me think Polaris is aware something may be a problem..and this is one of those problems you can't just sit back and wait and replace them as they break..
I would hope Polaris would have learned their lesson about that when they got fined $950,000 back in 1999 or 2000 for not recalling machines with a safety issue.

yeah i ran into the a arm and there is a difference the new one is thicker and has one less cossmember obviously there was an issue or they wouldn't have changed it but that ball joint freaks me out!!

...</end quote></div>

My build date is 12/11/08 but my A arm is not like the one pictured by BMP, mine does not have that HD crossmember on it. So which one is the new & improved model, with or without the crossmember?

It seems that the A-Arm without the crossmember was put on later model machines. MIne was built in Sept and has the crossmember. I would be interesting to know which one ductmate has..

Yep, and if it were me, and I suspected something "fishy" with the suspension parts, I would call them and remind them of that! Then, when they tell me (like they tell everybody) to call my dealer... I would tell them that perhaps I will be calling my lawyer... lawyers eat these type of cases right up.

That might not change a thing... but I bet they will take a long, hard look at those parts... just to be sure.

""IF there was a recall you would get something in the mail or the dealer might contact you.."""

But you can look up recalls here

Don't count on getting any recall notice from Polaris or in the mail ......Had my ECM recalls done on both my 2006 Sp 450 's and still never got any notice in the mail........Found out on here there was a recall and the dealer ran my VIN numbers........So much for keeping the customer informed.....
I did get a little DVD promo in the mail from Polaris comparing there Sportsman to other brands..................................Way to go Polaris that's more important then a recall notice!!!!.......Caper............

also if polaris in not going to cover this. once it is fixed it will be traded in i canot keep something that breaks that easy i know what happind and so dosent BPM it dident take very much IMO this was just another ride i did nothing out of the ordanery like i said my two pals on trere sp 800 were in front and went thru the same thing and when i was moved out of the way one of them went thru it 3 more times laughing at me and my new xp</end quote></div>

IMO..if you really didn't do anything crazy to break the ball joint(I hate to keep acting suspicious, but you know the implications of claims like these are huge and you have to be careful) then you need to fill out that form...
