2008 800efi... check enging light?
#1
Just bought a 08 Polaris 800efi. It's used but not much, only 32 hours on the machine. I got it home and after unloading I noticed the check engine light came on the instrument cluster display. I checked and it didn't have an owners manual anywhere. Any ideas on what I should check? I know most of you will say take it to your dealer but if there is something I could check before loading it up I would like too.

Does it still run like normal? If it does then try disconnecting the ground off the battery for a few minutes then hook it back up to let the system reset. If that doesn't work then put the tranny in park, turn the key on then turn the key off and on 3 times in less than 5 seconds. The word "wait" will show on the screen. The check engine icon will blink once, pause, then blink twice to start diagnostics. If a code exists it will blink.Example:for a code 31 it will blink 3 times then pause and blink once more. When it's done it will blink a code 61.

Well I got it all worked out. The problem was the Barometric Pressure Sensor. One of the wires had been possibly pinched from the seat maybe. It was cut in two. I called my dealer and he had on in stock so I got the new one installed once I got back home. My other prob was the back seat. I have an X2. I couldn't get the seat off. I had 2 other guys helping me and it wasn't working. I took off the nut underneath the seat so it lifted ut. I got a grinder and took the shaft that locks the seat into position and made it a little smaller which seemed to work. Now you pull the strap and the seat comes out with no problems. So thanks for everyone's help.
