Default wierd thing....08 sportsman 500 touring

I have an 08 sportsman touring 500....lately when I start it cold it starts fine then stalls, re-start it and it runs fine after that. Just started doing this a few days ago now, no big deal really as it runs great on the 2nd start. It always starts fine when warm on 1st attempt though, this is just when it's cold.

Any suggestions as to what it may or may not be...or is it just a quirk of my bike?

That's what I was going to recommend. I had to do this on my son's ATP when it was stalling at idle.

Well I adjusted the throttle free play and it still stalls once when I start it up after it has sat for a few hours.....oh well still restarts and runs fine after that, I can live with that I guess. Still wouldn't mind knowing why it does that though......

Put a fresh new spark plug in it. Fresh new plugs do make a difference in easy quicker starts and idle. if anything your rpm could be just a tad lower now that the motor is broken in. That will cause idle to fall just slightly. Maybe you might want to increase the idle just 1/8 to 1/4 turn. If of course it has a carburetor.
