scrambler wont start

i road my 97 scrambler 500 4x4 down the road yesterday and i stop for a little bit and shut it off and now it wont start and it keeps backfireing through the exhuast and the air box

sounds like the cam lobes are wore off. happens on the old 500 engines. sometimes when the cam wears down the valves cant open correctly. imo

DITTO on the cams or at least the valve adjustment
