I own an 05 600 it has been an awesome machine will keep up with the big 800's and use less fuel. Doesn't overheat as easy either. As far as speed though mine completely stock will run about the same in a drag race with a stock scrambler 500 depending on the size of the riders. 03 model year had the hillard hubs for the 4x4 and 2004.5 and newer had the central hillard front gearcase 4x4. You might if you could look for a 2004.5 or 05 so you could get the front storage and the cooler tail lights. I've been very happy with mine, been tempted to trade up to a bigger one but I really cant think of a good reason too. Oh and another thing they are geared a littlebit lower than the 700's and 800 so lots of low end power. (tells gear ratios in manual). And the oil is so much more simple to change on a twin. Good luck.

I thought they only made the 600 in 2003 and 2004?

The 600 did not last long,it was to closely matched in performance with the 500 Sportsman to be considered a up grade I think so they jumped to the 700 very quickly.

I've got a '03 600 and it has not been that great. Don't get me wrong all and all it is good when it is running, but I have gone thru at lot of parts. Temp. sensor, radiator filler neck and cap,1 drive axle, 3 CV boots, shift linkage, water pump cover, had an electrical fire that shorted out all the electrical and it had have the main wiring harnesses replaced, rear springs are sagging now. Some of these items are common to all Polaris but I would inspect the machine thoroughly. The chrome plated rims are awful. They looked great new but now they are all rusted. I should upgrade to aluminum.
