Default 05 500ho squeeking or squealing at idle from clutch area

I just picked up a 05 sportsman 500ho. I was riding it for the first time it runs good no problems except at idle it makes a squeeking sound from the clutch area as soon as you give it gas the noise goes away. Any one have this before. Mileage is 540mi

More than likely the front clutch one way bearings either washer in front of bearing or fiber washer worn, or one way itself needs a little cleaning and lube,OR could be just the belt? You might check the belt for glazing and blow out the clutch dust(well ventilated area) on clutches.

how often does this washer bearing need service? Atv runs and drive great just that little squeak at idle. as soon as you touch the throttle the squeak goes away.

Could be just a glazed belt or dust buildup, just check and blowout clutch dust, put belt back on,check without cover on in neutral to see if still squeaking. They will usually stop squeaking when throttle is applied because belt moves away from one way bearing up on the sheaths. Most of he ones I have that make noise are because of the washer wearing in the one way.If pulling good,no jerking, then possible washer needs replacement. Clutch has to be pulled and the spyder has to be removed to get to the bearing cup to replace the washer. Best to take to dealer if you dont have the tools required and the noise gets worse. As far as when one way bearing needs service depends on how hard machine is used. I've had some that last for years without problems.

This machine only shows like 540 miles and seems pretty clean original tires not to much wear on them. Do people disconnect speedos like they do on snowmobiles? I like the atv seems to run well. I need to change all fluids in it. I will have to pull the belt cover when I get home to see what the belt looks like.

Thanks
Duane
