I was following behind my wife - she was riding our new AC400 at the time. She took a corner too fast, but also the front left tire hit a rock and it knocked her the other direction. So here I am behind my wife watching her do all this - thinking "hit the brakes, hit the brakes"....... Well nope she didn't - one two wheels, off the trail and slams into a fairly big tree a tad to the side from being head on. That was the worst feeling too see that, and not be able to do anything. She banged up her wrist, and leg pretty good - tweaked the entire body a few inches to the side, and bent the rim. It was still ride able, and she rode passenger all day. Needless to say she won't be piloting the 800 touring anytime soon - lol...

Mine was a 7 mile walk because me and another ATV ran out of gas.

We both had enough gas for a short ride but ended up with trail hypnotizing us and went further than we should have.
I ran out of gas first so we had a short gas line and siphoned gas from his still running ATV to a pop can we found and put 3 pop cans of gas into my ATV, I went pretty far its amazing how far you can go on 3 pop cans of gas.

Then he ran out of gas because he did not know he was on reserve from the start. So we jumped on my Big Bear until it ran out of gas. We walked 7 miles with gas taste in our mouth from siphoning and the bugs were bad, I though maybe the bugs would pick us up of the ground and fly us home while eating us.

We did not see one person on the trail and it was a long weekend, I would of payed $50 for a pop can of gas,I kid you not.

OK. I thought you totaled the bike. Broken ribs are bad news. I wear a chest protector with shoulder pads now. Can't risk the potential body damage anymore. It's like a seat belt....you get used to it and don't notice after a bit. I hide it under my Red Sox jersey, so it's not too noticeable and I don't look like boy-racer. Just makes my already massive shoulders look even bigger

Last Summer not too long before my back surgery. I was feeling pretty good that morning so the wife and I decided to meet a large group of friends at the local riding area about 2 hrs. away. By the time I got there my back hurt so friggin bad that I was nearly in tears! So needless to say I spent the afternoon face first on my trailer eating pain pills and watching everyone else ride.....Sure is a bummer to watch everyone else have tons of fun while you're laying there in pain wondering if you'll EVER ride again....
The trip home was the longest 2 hrs in history too! On a positive note though I'm back to ridin' like a wild man!

My wife and I were in a wash heading back to camp. I always follow her because I have more experience. She asked, no argued, for me to ride ahead since she felt she was slowing me down. After a short debate I said fine I would ride at my speed but would keep stopping to make sure she was behind me. I was going pretty fast through one section and stopped to wait for her.....she never showed up. I have never road so fast back looking for her, my heart was up in my throat afraid to see what I would come upon. Found her up against the embankment, like above she hit a rock and sprained her wrist when the quad was thrown into the embankment. I ended up towing her 20+ miles to camp because she couldn't use the throttle...but she was okay other than her wrist and pride, thank you Lord! I will never let her ride behind me again.

This was my story to add to the worst day riding thread. It was last August.

Howdy all, I went out trail riding on Saturday and went down a trail that should have had a name like: Trail of Death and Dismemberment or Plastic Carnage. Got way into the trail where it would have been too much to turn around and go back the way we came. So we ended up on an off camber downhill curve and, even with my large ballast, rolled it on its left side with the right rim of the box smacking a tree. A couple scratches on me, nothing major. Have to replace the box. Ca-ching.... We righted it with our winches, I checked the oil, and it started fine. I've cleaned all the left side plastic, topped off the oil, cleaned the air filter cover that goes over the foam and cleaned the inside of the air box with a degreaser. Anything else I should check??? It was pretty flat on its left side for about 4-5 minutes. None of the frame or metal work on the dump box appeared bent and we still went another 5 miles or so on the Trail of Death to get out of the woods. Amazingly strong frames. PS Yes, the metal skid plate that comes stock is worth the extra weight.

The day I was riding with my wife and as she was going down the trail she hit a rock, flipped upside down, got launched into the woods, fell down a small cliff, and straight into the water ... She had triple compound fractures of every extremety, cracked her head in half, eyeball popped out ....

Quad is made it through without a scratch, so it all turned out ok

lol
