Default 2004 Polaris Sportsman Speedometer

I have a 2004 Polaris Sportsman 500. I went on a trail ride this weekend a few miles into the ride I notice my battery light flashing on my display. When I turned off my headlight the light when out if I turned my lights back on the light would come back on after about 15 seconds. I never had a problem starting the machine and my battery would not run down. I also noticed when we stopped for fuel the odometer had when back words by 24 miles. After that I noticed that every time I would restart my engine the odometer would keep going down by the end of the ride my odometer had when down 124 mille on a 84 mile ride. What could be the problem the display or maybe a bad ground?

sounds like a speedo issue itself. to me anyways. if it was the wheel sensor it be adding more miles, and the hrs going down along with the odomiter. id say its the speedo.
