Question 550 XP engine breaking seems week???

Went riding this weekend and my dad said his engine breaking is hardly working 2WD only, going down a 6% to 8% grade sometimes the quad will speed up rather than slow down. My 08 500 HO will come to a stop much faster some time the rear tires will slide 2WD only. His 550 only has 450 miles on it, just would like some input on this problem, seems like the motor is not slowing the quad down, the belt seems tight when taking off. Thanks

I think it is because the 550 idles at 1650 rpm's.I have noticed the same thing on mine.to solve the problem shift into low gear and the EBS and ADC works great.

Thats basically it, the clutch is disengaging at slower speeds when in "H". Starts disengaging at around 2100 rpm & is usually all out by 1650 rpm.

Flip the switch to ADC 4x4 and it will stop him. Should be in low range under 10 mph.
