Default Hawkeye 06 - engine problem

I have a 06 Hawkeye, only 30 hours. It will start with full choke and only run with the choke nearly all the way out. If pushed in, it will die, and if you try to give it gas to pick it up, it will backfire. With the choke out, it revs and runs great, but the exhaust starts to smoke. I think this is fuel from being too rich. What happened...my son rode it around the yard a few times, stopped to fuel it up. Then after riding it a little more, it started all this. We have gas and gas oil-mix. According to him he used the correct one, and with me smelling it in the tank, it seems correct. Now it may have been a little old. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks guys.

Drain the tank and make sure u put the gas in it that does not have oil mixed. If its still doing it, pull the snorkel off and check the filter to make sure it clean.

Snorkel and air filter are spotless. What is the best way to drain the tank?

Close fuel shut off valve and take line from tank off. Change fuel filter also.
