Fixing 4 wheel drive and electrical....
In troubleshooting my 4 wheel drive, I cam across some additional issues.
The brown w/ white wire coming from the Reverse Speed Limiter looked like it was secure, but it was barely in there. In fact, if I wouldn't have dropped my meter, I probably would not have noticed that it was loose.
SO, I plug the brown w/ white back in, and BANG, the AWD light comes on, and the 4 wheel drive is working.
SO, I make sure all the other wires are tight, so I am wiggling everything around to see if anything is loose, and the engine is running, just lightly tugging at all the wires just to make sure nothing is loose, and ALL OF A SUDDEN, I hear a POP, and the engine shuts down.
I have nothing, no lights, no starter, nothing.....
HOWEVER, the bike will start with the pull start, and the 4 wheel drive does work, but I can't start the bike with the starter, and I have no lights, nothing, but at least my 4 wheel drive works right!!
Anyways, the starter solenoid tests good, 3.4 ohms across the solenoid..
QUESTION - What could have blown that will not let me start the bike, but the bike runs and the 4 wheel drive works with the pull start??
The only thing that resembles a fuse is the 20 amp circuit breaker. I have continuity across this, after I had to cut open the bag around it. But the book says to reset the breaker, how do I do this???
Any other ideas??
