Question 5w30 in manual tranny crankcase????

I have a 2000 Xpedition 425 and its manual tranny that takes 5.5 liters of oil. I wanna know if I can use 5W30 or 10W30 in the crankcase since I have heard people using 0W40 and some saying 10W30 but dont know whos right??
I am changing it since the crankcase was full with about 8 liters of gas and oil.

Stick with 0w40 it is recommended because of topend wear at start up.
