Hey Thor, they claim that is Polaris's policy. The first one gets replaced free regardless of what you did to it. After that, they will replace if there are no signs of abuse. I've bought 3 quads from them, they usually help me out.. I didn't even take the HO to them. I took the belt off and took it down there, and they gave me a new one. They just wanted the vin# so they could charge it to Polaris. If you ever smoke the belt though, you can tell where it happened. As soon as I started smelling mine, I shut it down and we pulled it out of the hole. About 40 miles later, it started slapping the cover. When I removed the belt, it was obvious where it had slipped. They were warning me that, Polaris would not warranty them from now on, if they showed damage like that.
We have learned that they will smoke them in reverse though. I did mine trying to back out of a deep mudhole. A buddy of mine has a yellow HO. Last Sunday, he had to pull me back out of another
hole. I'm always the test dummy for mudholes.
When he pulled me out, he was going to be funny and keep pulling me back. I slipped her in low and we immediately stopped and both dug into the dirt. We only did this for about 15 seconds.. His belt immediately started smoking. He was in reverse. I
was in low, mine was fine. I think they should have made rev. a lower gear. Who goes that fast backwards anyway..
If you find out that other dealers are warrantying them regardless, please let me know, so I can lean on my dealer a little harder.
