90MPH, Buggies, Briggs Two-strokes, what is this??
#1
im watching junk yard wars and they said that "buggies" can go as fast as 90mph. they also said they come in 4 and 3 wheels. i thought 3-wheelers were out of prouduction a long time ago.
i they call a quad a "buggie"
they also said they all had rear chain drive, dident they look at the rear of that honda that they use?? i thought it was shaft drive.
they also said that the briggs 5hp engine was a two-stroke. i dident think briggs made two-strokes.
it was also funny do here one of the contestants talk about the rear end of there "buggie". he dident think it would steer without a differential in the back.he though without a differential it would just push strait. he must not have looked at the back of that honda.
just some interesting observations

Hey ledebuhr~
I watched that show tonight also. I heard them refer to ATV's as "buggies". When they made the comment about 90 mph, they were showing a race prepped 250r that could approach 90 mph if geared correctly. About the straight rear axle...They were somewhat correct with their "not turning" statement. If both the tires have to turn at the same veelocity, turning will become difficult. I found this true when I studded the tires on my Scrambler. I just studded the rear tires and on glare ice, it would not turn...not even in 4x4!

I think the show needs to get there facts straight. And i guess all of the three-wheelers only go in a straight line and they never turn. what made them think it would not turn with the solid rear axle? it might not turn as fast but for what they were doing it would work fine. British don't seem as good of mechanics as the Americans did on the show

okay, facts
the engine you saw WAS NOT a 2-stroke. it was a seemingly brand new briggs go-kart engine. so they made a mistake, its why pencils have erasers. but it seemed brand new, not even a mark on it. what would it be doing in a junkyard?
also, a banshee dosent have a diff. and it does just dandy. why add the extra weight?
