clutching question

I just installed clutch kit in my 04 700 twin (high lifter outlaw heavy duty) and I like the extra torque it gave me but I'm not wild about it engaging so high in rpms (2100) is there a way to swap springs and weights to get the same torque but have it engage at a lower rpm does anybody have any sugestions.

Try getting used to the engagement before you mess with the clutching.OYu can get what you are looking for but it would change everything about your kit.Now if your tool box was like mine with a good selection of weights and springs and you have the time to change and test things and KNOW what you are doing you can get everything you want.

You will need a spring that has a low starting rate but the same top rating.You could try lightening up on the secondary tension.

Depending on the primary spring you are using you can normally find a spring that should lower engagement and keep the same operating and top rpm. The key is to find out what spring you have and get one with a lower 2.5 or 2.125" rating and the same rate at 1.125". The lower the rate numbers the lower the rpm. If you cant find one with the same 1.125 rate then it takes more playing to get it right. Like the others said try riding and see of you get use to it. Most machines will lower a 1-200 rpms after a few miles of break in.
Also if it is real harsh engagement you belt might be worn to skinny, dirty clutches, or bushings bad in the clutches.
