850=smooth
550=very harsh...feels like it 'pops' into gear

850 was slightly harsh at first then smoothed out with only a few hours. I was hoping same would happen w/550 but???

Mine is smoothing out also, but it took awhile.

Mine jerks in any gear also. So...I have gotten really good at keeping my hand on the brakes...and giving it gas at the same time. Which makes is feel better when getting going.

My brand new 850 EPS is very harsh on engagement too. I'm hopeful once the belt breaks in, it will smooth out. If not, I will play with the clutching to cure it. A tweak of the secondary spring should do the trick. Plus I see EPI has a kit for the XP now too.

did you ever figure it out. My 2011 850 slams into gear as well. The only way I kind of control it is I hold the brakes on with the throttle when starting
