Default rocker cover gasket

i just noticed an oil leak coming from the rocker cover. i had a guy adjust the valves a couple of years ago, and he just used silicone when he put the cover back on, no gasket. well i broke down and paid the 16.50 for the gasket, but do i need to put any sealant on the gasket or just the dry gasket.

if you clean both mating surfaces really good then not sealant needed. but if there is one fleck of sealant left it will more than likely leak
