Default John Deere Parts in front housing

I am having issues with my sportsman where the front wheels are engaging when in 2 wheel drive. Its an '06 800. This is the second time this has happened. The first time was still covered under warranty. I have done a lot of reading and saw that a lot of people have replaced their cages with parts from John Deere. I was just wondering how these have been holding up since they posted last. I have also seen that there are aluminum aftermarket ones available. Does anybody have any experience with these? I know they are more expensive, but do they last? If they were to fail what other problems do they cause? Is the cage relatively easy to replace? Thanks for the help.

well from I read over on high lifter. They are the same deal, except I think it is the same as the newer polaris ones. I think they had a change somewhere around 06. I'm no expert on the deal. Read what was written over on high lifter, I believe it was a sticky. in the polaris section.

Thanks for all of the help guys. I am hoping to tear it apart and verify that the cage is the issue soon. If it is, i know where i am getting the parts.

the problem is not always a broken cage, sometimes the armature plate causes some issues. the armature plate is what keeps the cage from rotating inside of the diff, if the plate gets to be magnetized then it will act like you have the awd switch on and front wheels will kick anytime the rear wheels spin. armature plate is around 75 dollars
