Default 800 Sportsman Replacement Battery

What is the best (read cheap but good) battery to buy for the 800? I'd hate to buy an oem from Polaris b/c of the price. I havent even called but I'm sure it's sky high. What have you guys bought, and what were the prices?

The Popo batteries aren't cheap and finding a "cheap but good" replacement will not be easy. Get what you pay for with batteries. I'd suggest a good gel battery. There's a few threads on the forum related to this.

How come you need one on a newer machine? Reason I ask is because if it sits a lot and you are having battery issues I would suggest buying a battery tender and putting it on when not using your machine. Will greatly extend the life of your battery. My last ride was an 05 800 and it still had the original battery when I sold it earlier this year and worked flawlessly.

I have an Odyssey in mine.....Great battery.......There between $140-$150 I'd say....You'll hear many opinions about batteries here.......Some guys swear by their Walmart batteries and some guys go for the higher grade batteries.......Good luck....

i must be lucky on batteries (knock on wood lol) as i haven't had any issues w/ my bikes that sit for 6 months a year w/ out ever starting or charging the battery. for storage i charge the battery completely and sometimes take it out and store inthe basement or leave it in and it always starts in the spring.

I'm gonna go for the Odyssey for my '06 Sp800 when the times comes, I found one online for $110 plus shipping. For now, my '07 Sportser 1200 battery that's chocked with 2x4s on two sides works fine, of course it's on a battery tender, hehe.

Odyssey PC925 L battery

I stand corrected, $143 is the best price I could find: Hawker (Enersys) Odyssey (0765-2029 PC925L) 12 Volt/27 Amp Hour SLA Battery, Female threaded/M6 bolt, LEFT POSITIVE. | AramaMart

Great choice......Just a important reminder.....Make sure you get the PC926L and not just the PC925......The PC925 has the terminals on the wrong sides and there's not enough cable to make it work....Don't ask me how I know....LOL...

Thanks for all the replies fellars, turns out I won't be needing one. I had left the key on overnight after running my air compressor and drained the battery. I put the charger on it for a day, and it wasnt charged enough to even turn on the gauge. I thought maybe the battery went kaput or I overcharged it and fryed it. Well yestarday morning I took it out and put it on the charger all day and overnight. Around lunch time I put it on the quad and was able to fire it up with the charger assisting it. I let it run for a bit then took about a half hour ride and all is well again. Cha Ching, 150 bucks back in my pocket! Thanks again!
