November Ride WV
#1
I'll be back in WV on the first week in Nov, we will be staying at the Ashland resort. If you would like to do some serious riding PM me and we will set it up. Please no rookies and no quads set up for mud, I don't mean to offend anyone but the terrain is extreme and we will be covering lots of miles.
I just got back, we rode Thursday night and covered 50 miles. Friday we did 190 miles in 10 hours, it poured the last 2 hours so you need to be prepared.
Have full gear or don't show, on average 40-50 people die here every year.
We have been riding WV for 12 years and now the area well, so if you have some time and can ride let me know.

You don't have to sit it out, just wear your gear and know your limitation. Most of the deaths accrue due to lack of a helmet. It's a sad fact but it is a fact. I have enjoyed WV for a long time now but over a 12 year period we have had, many broken ribs, a punctured lung, broken collarbone, broken femur, ruptured spline and bruised kidneys. Sounds like fun, it's not it sucks, some Sh*t head rides past his ability's and ruins the ride for all. I no longer ride with people that won't use gear or don't have there bikes set up right for this type of terrain and the fact is none of use are getting any younger so the pace is slower. I would hope that there are some of you that like to ride more than 20 miles a day, I think Thor did 250 in a day now thats riding. Long live the XP

RJ,
I agree with everything you said. Good points especially with having the RIGHT setup for those trails. I think another thing to add is do the green (Easy) trails first then work your way up to the black (most difficult) for those rough areas. I went head long with the crowd straight into the black trails on a very rutted steep hill that when I took it wrong, ended up going BAD! (Straight down-pour too didn't help any!)
For those of you who are going down to Hatfield and other WVA Rocky Mountain trails I would recommend you to re-evaluate your lift kits setup and low end torque clutch setups. Strive for a even center of gravity and study a steep climb first and understand it a little before you just follow the pack. All of these things I learned AFTER-THE-FACT!
Cheers,
