The 6 gal tank was a VERY nice feature! VERY disappointed to read the 2010 X2 550 ONLY has a 4Gal tank! UNBELIEVABLE!! WHY would Popo do that!

Personally I feel the 2010 550 list price is way too high. I think mine was in the mid to upper $6K range. If I remember correctly the 2010 is $9K or $10K?

I would wait for the X2 850 and maybe EPS. Now that would be worth $9-10K!

Good luck!
4 gallon fuel tank? Where are you getting that from? Not true at all. I've got the stats for a 2010 550X2 right in front of me (Polaris brochure) and it clearly states 5.25 gallons!
That would be a gallon and a half more than what you posted.

The new 550 XP is 5.25 gallons. I think it may be getting confused with the Touring XP 550 with electronic power steering model that has a 4.25 gallon tank.

OPPS!

Thanks for clearing that up. (my new '09 SP500EFI has a 4g tank)

5.25g is a good size for the X2!............price is still too high!!

The 5.25 tanks used to be in 500s from 1996 until 2002,then Polaris though Shell was going to open up gas stations throughout the wilderness I guess.

Agreed....once Polaris gets a few more bugs worked out with the XPs, an 850 EPS X2 would be a nice machine to have IMO..
Heck if they had made one for 2010 I might just be riding one..as it stands right now I am glad they didn't

Yep, an 850 X2 XP with EPS would be nice. I found myself thinking of this on the way to cutting up a big oak that fell across one of the club trails. I met up with a buddy later and we went through mud, blown down trees, rocks, waterholes, and combinations of all the above. My arms are tired. But, if I have to trade in my mancard to get power steering I'll have to think about it more...

Why the X2? The on demand AWD, biggest gas tank in the class, 'turf' mode, and the 'convertable' 2 seater. Mileage... we went on a 45 mile trek and only used 1/3 of a tank of gas.

Size: Bigger is always better.

Favorite: Tie between bigger gas tank and the on demand AWD is flawless in any terrain that I've hit.

Least favorite: None found.

Also... Wife and I, on most trail angles, never felt the need to leave high gear. The 500 had plenty of power.

I think only the X2 500 has the large 6 gallon tank, not the 800,850 or 550s.
