clutch engagement after rev the engine high

Default clutch engagement after rev the engine high

i have the cover offf and did some tranny work put it all back togather and it seem as if the primary clutch wont engage until the engine is reved pretty high before it even starts to slide over and catch the belt the belt is new could it be the spring

did you do anything to the primary(engine clutch)clutch like change the spring or weights?

i baught it used had a after market pipe that came with but was not on i dont know if anything was done to the primary clutch i just noticed that it was engaging real high on rpms and it didnt have reverse because the the guy who had it apart before me didnt put a retainer in the right spot and it wouldnt engage the reverse

also it was a hot seat after market pipe

so you never had this running before now to see if it would engage high? if not chances are they have a high engagemnt spring or a complete clutch kit in to bring the rpm's up into the power band.

no i did ride it and it did engage real high in the rpm band but he took the pipe off i believe because it was real loud he said but the spring looked stock when i took it out it was black but had the ends painted

Either the clutch is worn/binding or you have the wrong weight/spring combination.

is it possible that the spring alone is warn what comes in a clutch kit i can buy all oem parts cheaper than a clutch kit

If the spring was worn/weak it would engage early, not late. I would check the bushings and rollers for wear if they are ok start checking spring/weight combinations.

i notice the rollers i thin there called had play in them i guess i dont konw what to look for i never saw a new one so i am not sure if the old one is is worn out or not if it had a aftermarket pipe could that have had something to do with the high rev any where to see the m taken apart .
