extended Warranty? get or no

It's a crap shoot. You may get lucky and you may not. As others have said... a good dealer will help you with a warranty. Polaris (and other makers) will try and assert that everything is "driver abuse"... like premature belt wear/breakage... premature brake/rotor wear... etc. A good dealer will pull strings and make the warranty work for you. A mediocre dealer will just pass on Polaris's assertion, making the warranty virtually worthless.

If it were me, I would try and put the $650 or $870 aside (or in a savings account) for the term of the warranty, and hope for the best.

My 500 is 1 1/2 old, and hasn't required any warranty work... knock on wood.

I say no , I 'v put 10,000km on my 2008 500HO and have not needed warranty . I did break a 6 buck flywheel key but dam that's rare . Other than that the beast rocks , no problems , nothing , that's why I went carb . EFI means sensor's , problems , expense , carb mean's reliability . You EFI guy's won't change my mind - PERIOD .

Geezzzzzzzzz.... that over 6,000 miles! Do you drive it to work and back. LOL

I agree with you on the carb for my driving... works fine, and if it breaks, I can fix it or replace it in no time. Run good clean gas it in and it's pretty trouble free.
