By they you mean dealer? I guess you right then,my dealer wanted $320 for the same rad fan that sells New online for $65. God knows how much more if they installed it,which took 20 min btw.
Three spring tune ups at a dealership could use up $870 if you involve those crooks. Thats the point of this site so you do not deal with a dealer again.

I bought my 08 Raptor 700R brand new in fall of 07. The dealer asked if I wanted a extended warranty at first I said no but after thinking it over for about 20min I thought about the EFI system and if it ever went out it could get pretty expensive very quick to replace. So I opted to get it from Yamaha. I have put 3500 miles on the bike since then without one lick of problems till this Fall when I went riding for a long day trip and when I got back to the truck to load up the quads I went for a quick jont about .5 mile before loading up for the trip home. I was haulling A_ _ up the road in 5th gear when I went to turn around I lost 4th and 5th gear (no egaugment. To make a long story short after 2 weeks without the bike and $1200.00 later my dealer found there was a factory defect in the shift rail and fork therfore causing the issue of no 4th or 5th gear engaugment. So I think that the $850.00 seems to have paid for itself al in one shot not to mention it also coverd all reqired maintance in the last three years as well!

If you plan to drive the wheels off of it then opt for the warranty.
Even If you dont have the experience of working on something but are not affraid to try and tackle (by researching here on the forums) and have some tools then i would opt out of the warranty.
The most expensive parts of most repairs is usually the labor. You may have a serious problem like an engine blowing apart in which the warranty would pay for itself and then some, but thats a gamble you have to take...
In most instances though its only going to be small items that need to be replaced/maintained, like tie rods, wheel bearings, struts, maybe an axle or axle boot, fan, belt...
basically if you can(or want) to work on it yourself and have some basic mechanical skills and arnt planning to drive it 120% all the time i would pass on the warranty.
