Amazing that its only $1300 diff. Alot more bike for that cash!

The price difference is $1500.00 I believe?

Our dealer sells both Polaris and Arctic Cat,a new 550 AC is $1500 less then the XP550 which is odd since all the sleds they have between AC and Polaris are price about the same in there class category.

I don't see it happening with the way the economy is. If they wanted to have something in between it would probably stay as a 700 or so. I see them staying with a 550 and a 850.

550 H.O.? Polaris did it for the 500. I'm sure there's more untapped power in that motor. Still waiting for a Renie 800 killer, Polaris!!!

Its all really goofy! I guess they base their decision on customer sells? I hear the 500 class has its highest base? So maybe the thinking was to boost the mid range 500 class a little with the 550? But why are so many claiming its so underpowered? You never heard that language from the SP500 fan base! Is it less power than the former SP500? What is it compared to? Other models of its class or to the 850XP? Well I guess if you ride the 550 and then jump on the 850 you are really going to notice a big difference, lol.

the 550 xp is supposed to be 4 or 5 hp over the sp 500

the 850 was originaly designed to be a bigger engine, and they have tuned it to over 150 hp, but for reliability and legal reasons they detuned it for the consumer.

Lots of 850cc or less motors in sleds that are reliable for thousands of miles that are in the 150HP or more range, its more of a liability reason that they do not used them in there ATV.I would think.

Default 650 xp

the differences between the 500 and 550 xp are about much more than power if you don't think so then you need to ride one and if anyone thinks it's underpowered than they need to buy a big bore but after riding my friends 500 i like my 550 a whole lot better.

$1300 was my dealers price diff. (At cost) I was certainly considering a trade up when the crazz hit. Not talking 2010 models that was the 2009s a little while back.

I think Polaris should do an XP in the 700 range. In MN 800cc is the limit to be rated as a class I atv. Once you are over that you get put in the class II category and some trails here are limited to class I only. You would think Polaris being in MN, they would have considered that right away. I guess it is no different then having them come stock with 14" wheels and then selling them in WI which had a 12" maximum. what a cluster*&^%& that was....
