Duh..meant an X2...the common confusion is rubbing off on me I guess.
Or maybe even better yet a X2 and a Touring modeled after an Outty Max...if they would have only followed the Max's rear seat/rack design when they made the XP Touring I bet they would sell alot better..full size rack AND removable passenger seat FTW! Hope Polaris is watching lol.

Sorry for getting off topic from the OP........

The X2 shares the same wheelbase of 57" with the Touring XP, but the X2 has the box and the seat. Not so sure the X2 would give the same comfort as the Touring, or even close, but much more versatile.

I remember CanAm (Bombardier at the time) used to offer a X2 type machine, but it must have never went over well. What is the wheelbase of the CanAm Max? It offers the seat and the rack behind it, unlike the XPT.....

Just curious, not really a machine for me. I like the regular atv's or I would go SxS. The X2 would be very useful for me though.

I think you need a trailer. Generator? lol...paking in for awhile huh?

Yeah kind off topic but Polaris could make the "650XP" in a 2up version...lol
The Max's wheelbase is 59"...and that is the beauty of the design IMO...take off the seat and put on the included storage box and it is a "regular" ATV,albeit with a longer more stable wheelbase. And now with PS on the machines the manuverability isn't even an issue...
I use to feel the same way about 2ups....I felt like they were the station wagon of ATVs...I don't feel that way anymore, after having a Max. I think there are quite a few Max owners that don't ride 2up..
The only thing the longer wheelbase machine won't do that the single seater will is easy wheelies..
If Polaris had a 2up XP with similar flexability, kind of in between the T and the X2(scrap the T) I think it would sell better than the T or the X2,it would hit a bigger base of potential users,JMO.

Look at Kawasaki's missing links, they sell a 366 Utility then the next step up is a 750! Makes Polaris 550 to 850 gap look not so bad.

I hate dragging my trailer through all that mud. Have used it though. Our cabin is in the woods farther back that road. It has no power, so a generator runs the fridge, lights, etc...

I'll probably never own a 2up unless it's an X2. Even then, for the price, I would opt for the SxS. JMO The longer wheelbase is of no use here at all. Actually a downfall most of the time. Just get hung up too easy.

To each their own though.

Kawi makes two 650's also.

Your right, but even 360 to 650 seems like a large leap.

I guess it depends on where you ride? I used to hear that too...and believed it,I think that people are applying the principle that applies almost exclusively to abrubt, steep hill cresting to all situations. Where I ride the biggest thing to get hung up on is large downed trees...and believe it or not the longer wheelbased Max creeps across ones that would give me fits on the XP,trees I would have to try to almost wheelie over on the shorter XP the Max will just drag itself over....if the obstacle is large enough to high center the single seater machine then that is where the extra wheelbase seems actually help..where a shorter machine would be stuck teetering the longer machine keeps weight either on the front or rear(which ever is farther away from the obstacle the machine is resting on) and is able to push/pull it self until the other end has enough weight on it to take over....that isn't theory or hearsay...I've done it,on the same obstacles(trees) that the XP had a hard time with.
I imagine there are situations, other than the obvious hill cresting, where a shorter machine might get hung up less, but not where I ride.

Ok,I am stryaing way off topic here..sorry.

Okay well since you all are off topic then I qualify as the thread starter to a question on that note...lol.. I would assume with the larger wheel base that you are less prone to wheelie and tip over (not sideways) while hill cresting? Man, it sure would be nice to try these different model types of different terrain to really gauge for one's self if its (X2 in this case) is "more suitable" for their unique applications.

How much longer is the frame on these X2/2-Ups anyways?

Thx,

R'

Doesn't the XP have more GC than the other brands?

I think the wheelbase is a difference of 3-4" from the XP to the X2. I rode with a guy who had a Grizzly and 28" Vampires. He never got hung up on anything. He went right over snow banks. I realized that it was because of his short wheelbase and large tires. His tires from front to back almost touched....almost like being on tracks, no room inbetween to get him hung up. I also noticed on the same ride that a guy with a ATP (longer wheelbase) got hung up on every log and snowbank because he bottomed out inbetween the tires.
I'm sure the ride is smoother and riding hills is better with the longer wheelbase, but it has it's downfalls like anything else.

Yes..the 2ups are alot harder to wheelie and they do climb with quite a bit more confidence..alot less likely to tip back(front come up) while climbing. Not impossible to tip one,but they will all other things being equal climb a steeper grade than the shorter machines.
IIRC the Polaris XP 2ups are 4" longer wheelbase than the single seaters 53 vs 57 wheelbase.
On the Can-Am IIRC it is 8" 51 vs 59...
