i was reading your other post and i had a thought. first when you did the leak down test did you make sure the piston was at the bottom of the stroke?
second try to do the test again but wiggle the crank shaft around too see if you loose any air. just a thought.

oh a yes a motor without a load will turn into a run away motor. dont know ifyou have any experience with an outboard motor but if you have the motor out of the water and have earmuffs on it get water from a waterhose, you can essentially turn the engine into a deisel if you rev the motor without a load. doesnt matter if you turn the ignition off or not its running so fast and hot that it ignites the gas.

Re: Piston position during leak-down test, I made sure piston was at TDC, not BDC. I did some crankshafft wiggling, as well, but not so much with the eye on the air gauge as with an eye out for new bubbles in the soapwater solution. I think today's mission has two goals: 1) See if I can start a cold engine without assistance from starting fluid, and; 2) Set idle with clutch installed.
