Default 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 electrical problem

I bought a battery for a friends 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 that he recently purchased. Someone had taken the Regulator off so i put it back on when i got it. With the new battery and regulator in i went to start it but nothing,no lights no life. Will the regulator cause this or is there another problem?
Thanks in advance from Bama!!

Get a multi meter and start following the positive cable from battery, could be bad connections at selenoid or starter.

Had a similar problem. All it was was a bad connection on the Earth lead from the battery.

Your starter brushes maybe sticking and just need a cleaning. It worked out like that for me.

Any power to the starter at all.
Usually one of two things Starter Brushes need repalcing or cleaning.
If no power to the starter bridge across the two terminals on the starter soleniod and see if that works.
If it cranks over then the solenoid needs replacing. Cost not much more than a family pizza
