Can ATV tires be mounted by hand?
Just as the the post states, can they be mounted by hand with tire spoons or is it next to impossible to do it correctly. Ordering tires by mail and just wondering if a few bucks can be saved by doing it yourself. They would be ITP Mud-Lite XTR's 27-9-14, 27-11-14's. I haven't even checked as to what it would cost to mount them locally yet, so I don't even know what the savings would be at this point.

i mount tires myself all the time. and most walmarts cant mount atv tires cuz the rim is too small but youll have to check with them. dealers charge 10 a wheel most times. but if you plan on mounting them urself and in the future then a good set of tire tools can be purchased from rockymountainatvmc.com for pretty cheap. and if you mount them use dishwashing liquid to ease them going on and seating. then just wash it off with a water hose.

Man sometimes I wish I lived in areas like you all! The WalMarts around here don't have those sorts of things like I hear of the super Walmarts around the country. If yours in your area has that kind of service for $5 dollars a tire. Then that would be the BEST $20 dollars ever spent. IMO
NO, I haven't put a tire on the rim, but I needed to set the bead on my SP450 tire after a cracker jack BS artist claimed and charged me $20 for patching. It wouldn't hold air, I put the plug back in the sidewall tear and was done with it. Only ATV dealership in my area with the capability charges $40 a tire. SAY WHAT! They can take those tires and 7^^csbs888!@#$^#@ well you can fill in the blanks, lol.
Pay the $5 dollars man!

After paying $26 each at Discount Tire to mount 2 I went to Harbor Freight and bought a tire mounting machine for the other 2. Small enough to take with me and mount on the ATV trailer if needed, large enough to do 14 inch trailer tires if needed while camping. It cost $56, almost the same cost as having them mounted. I looked at spoons but a good set cost $20 or $30.
