Ok, i have 2006 sportsman 450 for about 2yrs now. I rolled it over end for end about a year ago. since then the speedo assembly no longer exists. as of last night the atv is stuck in a field in 2feet of snow lol. The awd does not work anymore obviously since unhooking speedo assembly. Can anyone tell me which/how to make awd work without it? All wires, plugs are still there but i need to know how to bypass everything if possible.

try grounding the brown/white wire(number 16 in the plug) on the speedo harness that plugs in. this might give you awd. welcome to the forum.

 

Ok, here's what i found out. I had no power going to awd plug in transfer case. with a tester i found that the brown/white (16) was a live wire in the harness, so grounding it didnt seem right. after further testing the white wire (14) had to be spliced with brown/white (16) to put power to awd. I tested it out and the awd was working but then I smelled the "whats burning" smell lol, i checked everything and the plug into the transfer smells like its burning. I let it cool down for about 10min and started it up and awd worked fine again until i smelled that smell again ( electrical wire burning). Any ideas whats causing it to get hot and quit working? btw thanks for the info before, I had no clue where to even start.
