So, given the drive train issues (parts & labor for a shop to repair it- NOT YOU) I'd make a fair offer of around $4000- no more.
$4,000 max. Wouldn't be criminal to bring $3500 based on your description.

I agree- $3500 would be a fair price for both - but I wouldn't pay over $4k for a stock 05 with no upgrades that needs repairs.

well the best he will do is $4400 and he is offering me a 2 month warranty but I don't how well that would be considering he is just a individual and could easily just say as is after I bought it.

Is it worth passing up the atv for only $400?

I'd pass on it- because the price is too high.

But that's my stubburn opinion- if you really want it, buy it.

I have a feeling though, he won't be selling it anytime soon at that price.

Did you tell him what the NADA & KBB value is? Then remind him it needs repairs- this guy seems out of touch with the market. Better yet- email him the link to this thread and let him read it...

I agree- much better deal. It sounds nice.

When you look at it, tell him you'll give him $4250 because there's dirt under the chassis

Make sure you check the cv boots, oil & winch cable.

(I say winch cable because it's a good indication of how it's been ridden- if it's all frayed up, worn and kinked, you know its most likely been stuck in either mud or water-)

well I don't think it has a winch, but I have a brand new one sitting in a box so I can't check that out. He told me he just changed ALL fluids with polaris synthetic.

he said he did a little trail riding and mostly on the ranch.
