Brake pad question

Default Brake pad question

I was wandering if anyone has found pads that last longer than Polaris brands, I have seen those advertised pads that say slintered, is this any better or cheaper? Any imput is welcomed.

Sintered pads dissipate heat better due to both a harder compound, and grooves in the pad, to remove mud, water, and heat .

The two most common causes of brake pad wear are hard use and dirt. If you mud alot, clean your pads with brake cleaner after every ride.

EBC makes good pads, or you can make your own with clutch lining material from McMaster-Carr , and JB Weld or similar adhesive.

yep ebc are very good replacement pads and not as expensive.

Ok thanks, I didnt want to buy some off brand that didnt hold up, I bought some off brand years ago and they wore out in 2 weeks, beem weiry of getting anything other than Polaris

I have tried all the name brand pads and the Polaris pads seem to hold up as well as any.The only thing is they are more expensive.We have three 800's and put three different brands on each and then checked them after about 300 miles..The Polaris and EBC wore about the same..the ones from e-bay no name were complety worn out..So I guess you get what you pay for..(the e-bay no name brand were very cheap and it showed)

wow. i had a 2000 with 7k on it. never touched the pads. brake happy are we......
