maybe a wet air filter or moisture in your fuel.
I had the same exact prob with my 06 brute 750i- turned out to be water in the gas and a poor air cleaner gasket seal on the lid. Any moisture in the air box? Did it pop when it was sitting or just when you were moving?

heres how it went.....3o miles of mud and hard riding dew to the ground thaw..with 1 miles to go it starts puttering than real bad poping out the muffler. had no power going up any hills.i load it on the trailer get it home and the next morning start it up and again hit the gas and it bogging down ..i get it to the front yard to hose it down....it starts right up no problems and just a couple minutes ago i tried it again..running perfect..i dont get it....
ps when i was having the problem i was feathering the choke..and it seemed to work to get me back to my truck

sounds like a wet air filter to me. Dried over night- The hose won't bother it none. I use a pressure washer on my bike and never get any water into the air box.
Maybe when you were riding, you sucked in a little water- just enough to get the air cleaner damp and a little moisture in the carbs.

Dude no way!! I just bought a 05 sportsman 700 efi. I took it through some good mud on saturday, Ran perfect. Washed it good sunday morning at the shop. put it on trailer brought it home, hand washed it. Let it sit sunday in the garage, sunday night got on it to cruise around yard, and the same thing, It would start and run real bad, wouldnt idle on its own, had no power. Let it run for a cpl min and it started working. Took it out tonight, went thru deep water ran great, went thru mud ran great, stoped shut it off to ****, and wouldnt stay running, Towed it back loaded it on trailer 10 min later ran perfect? Whats going on?

well i,ll tell you ..i just checked my air filter and it is filthy black grease like **** on it..must be burning rich or lean.but heres the kicker i noticed at the bottum of the air box looks like there was water up in there like beergut said it had dry dirt in it..so i think air filter is the problem,,and the bike has about 55 hrs on it..
