Question odd duck?

Was surfing craigslist tonight and came across an atv listed as a 2003 polaris frame, suspension, plastic, but with a Linhai engine. It looks identical to a old style sportsman in every way. But a Linhai engine? Maybe a chinese copy cat? I've never in my life heard of these.

The Polaris 500 engine is made by Fuji Heavy Industries if I remember right. Same company that owns Subaru. I think you're right about Linhai being a Chinese knockoff. Avoid like the plague unless you're a really good mechanic.

Can anyone else confirm who makes the Polaris engines? Would they make all Polaris engines? I'm just curious. Thanks

There single are made by Fuji but there twins are there own I think. The 525 is made by KTM.

Polaris also hooked up with a company called Weber for there 4 stroke sleds and PWC. Together they make a 140hp 750 twin.

Good to know. My brother-n law is searching for a 4x4 so he can get out in mud with us.(his raptor aint good for that) I told him to stay away from it since it sounded kinda odd-ball.

Tractor Supply Company in upstate N.Y. here sells a machine that is exactly as you describe. It looks like a sportsman except it has a straight axel in the back. It has the off brand motor. For the price of a new one you could buy a really good used sportsman.--Dave
