Default Greasing the XP's - My Solution

Like a previous thread in this subject said, there's a lot of Zerks (grease nipples) on these quads. 21 to be exact.

Drive shaft - rear - easy.
Rears - 6 per side - all easy to get at.
Fronts - 4 per side - Arrgghhh ! What a pain.

So, I had a flexible 18" grease gun extension that i used hose clamps to secure it to a 24" x 1/8 steel road to reach the hard to get at Zerks.

This way, I could access these poorly located nipples from the opposite side of the ATV.

The hardest one was the front/left/upper/inner. I had a buddy hold the grease gun and feed the rod through open area while I guided the nozzle on to the nipple.

It'll go quick the next time. Oh ya, I tried to put 90 degree nipples in the hard to reach ones, but not enough room or time or patience to do it.

Hope this helps a bit.

My 06 sportsman 500 HO does not have NEAR enough grease serts.
I always use marine grease on mine, it's a little more waterproof.

You have to wonder why Polaris would design something that would make the owner have to do something like that to grease some of the Zerk's . I like having 6 Zerk's on my 08 all easy to get at .

acutally the older bikes had even more fitting then the old ones which personally i liked so that you could grease them and have them last longer, but agreed they can be a PIA to get too.

I agree about the 06... i like keeping things greased and i hate that i cant grease everything that moves... esp the cv joints for the 4x4 system... all that movement without any grease jsut means it will break and then you gotta buy a new one!

That doesn't sound like your average Polaris machine.
