hilliard clutch

Default hilliard clutch

on my 2000 sportsman 500 my left hub is engaging right hub isnt checked it all out, already have put new armature plates in recently. If i swap the hilliard clutch from left to right the problem follows which tells me hilliard clutch is the problem what could go wrong with hilliard clutch to keep it from working spring looks good rollers are ok housing not broken is there something else i can do to try to fix it.Thanks in advance.

Check all the rollers for burs, do they all turn freeley?Never seen one go bad unless they got chewed up from a bad bearing ect.

no burrs that i can see they turn freely but when i bought the atv recently this hilliard had rust on rollers i cleaned then up as best as i could.

I honestly find this a little interesting. I would have quessed a lack of power to the coil. But I guess you have already proved that thoery wrong. you sure the splines aren't trashed or something. not that it is likely

Do the rollers slide freely in the slots of the cage? I have seen some cages bent where the rollers hang up. Take the spring off and make sure the rollers go through each slot easily.
