Default Adjustable suspension?

Has anyone tried changing the rear suspension on an XP omg I cant get in there to do it. Do you really have to take the tire off to do it. Im pissed if that is the case.

Any hints or tricks to change the preload on the bike the tool does not fit inside the top a-arm

I have a 2010 550 X2

I've adjusted preload on the rear springs of my '10 850XP a few times now. I've found that with the weight of the quad on the ground, I find it much easier to put a small pipe on the adj. tool just for a little more leverage. I've never had a problem getting the tool onto the shock though.
